Werk! Here’s a picture of my sweet home work space. A few things you should know: 1) available appt times on my calendar are fewer lately - because I’m working a lot and training a lot, and because I’m getting quickly booked in with follow-ups, contract clients, and close referrals. If you know me and need me, please text. I’ll find you a spot if I can, or refer if I can’t! 2) I wear kn95 with my people - in homes, hospitals, and group class settings. I also have 3 Pfizzle Boosties on board. Is it foolproof? No. Am I trying? Very much. Please feel free to book virtual meetings if that’s your vibe right now or at any time. Peace and love and patience, y’all.
I love teaching these classes! If you register for all six, one of them is free. Otherwise, feel free to register for only the ones you can make! Contact @sundara_wellness . And YES, we are in masks.
These trusty birth manipulatives joined me (virtually) to talk to some high school students about birth, babies, and breastfeeding today. Thirty minutes of birth talk is not a lot, but they had covered some of this with their teacher before, and I managed to use many of the important body-words I'd like them to hear their adult friends say, I think. High school me would have LOVED to hear from a doula, and someday I hope my own boys learn this material at school and even use straight talk and accurate names for things to help their friends. O & D certainly know a lot more about my field of work than most boys their age already, especially after months of their work and mine running virtual under one roof! I used my time wisely, I hope. Planted some seeds, I hope.
2021 was a lot. 10 more hours of breastfeeding education and 27 of yoga education. I helped welcome 11 new babies as a doula and began practicing more of that work with a partner, Susan Rook @cebirth . I provided almost 300 hours of lactation counseling and taught well over 100 hours of prenatal yoga on zoom, in backyards and homes, some with @fit4mommemphis , and lots at @sundara_wellness . I continued raising my own two rad kids with my saint of a partner, Matt. We kept our lives on the rails with mountains of help. Y’all kept me moving.
I can't tell you how often I hear things like, "I wish someone had told me," or "I had no idea it would be like this," or "if I'd known this at the beginning it would have been completely different." I do tons of home visits, and I hope I help lots and lots of moms that way, with hands-on help once babies arrive! But this monthly workshop is one of the most important things I do as a CLC. Information is everything!! Please sign up for one of these before your baby arrives. It might be the difference that helps you meet your goals, whatever they are. Register for December 12 at 2:00 PM, and plan to bring a support person to learn everything with you! We'll be at @memphiswellnesscollective in East Memphis. The workshop is about 90 minutes long, and just $35 for you and your partner together.
@fit4mommemphis is SUCH a necessary resource for moms in Memphis! I don’t know where I would have been without them back in my stroller days. If you’re doing Fit4Baby classes, you can find me twice a month popping in to teach prenatal yoga! Their regular instructor is @katiebarberphoto - a sparkler of love in her own right. Contact @fit4mommemphis to learn more! Your very first class with them is free so what even are you waiting for?
